So I'll be studying/writing exams over the next little while, so no more posts for a bit! Sorry! Plenty to come after exams, I'm sure!

Jubilee Weekend!

I like to think that I'm lucky enough to have been in London for some pretty big events -- The Royal Wedding, The Diamond Jubilee, and in about a month's time, the 2012 Olympics! The Brits do it right, by hosting street parties and providing tons of all day coverage of each of these events. I thankfully had the opportunity to actually go watch the wedding festivities, but for the Jubilee, I was stuck in doors, studying. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that great that weekend, so I'm not too sad that I had to stay inside, but it sucks when you don't even have the option to attend. One of my flat mates and her friends went to go watch the Foatilla and they said it was crazy busy -- they did get to see some boats, but they decided to give up and just went to a pub to watch it on TV. Below are some photos

Some more FYR hilariousness

These following videos may only be funny to those that are familiar with the clinicians, however, I thought I'd share them anyway, as the lyrics were amazing! The theme: Epic Rap Battles.

Dan Chan (ECC) vs Balazs Szladovits (Clin. Path)

Livia Benigni (SA Imaging) vs Renate Weller (LA Imaging)

Matthew Pead (SA Ortho Sx) vs David Bolt (Equine Ortho Sx)

Final Year Revue 2012

So every year the final year students at the RVC put on a variety show involving comedy skits, dance, singing, and videos, among other things... and this year my class decided to go with the theme "Vets on Demand," loosely based on one of the television stations here in the UK. It was hilarious! I cried from laughing so much. Although it might not be as funny to those not familiar with the ways of the RVC, its traditions, or its clinicians, I thought I'd share a few videos of skits that were written, directed, starred and edited by RVC students!!

This one contains students (in blue scrubs) and clinicians (green scrubs) making lite of the fact that you have to remain sterile while in surgery... and how it can be hard to do so!

This one mimics a Barclay card (a bank) advertisement, but is a nice video cause it's sort of makes you reminisce about your time at both of the campuses.

Jamie Visits

A couple of weekends ago Jamie (from Guelph) came to England to catch a rugby match. We had some time to chill over the weekend, so Saturday afternoon I met up with him at King's X Station and from there we went for lunch, and then a pub tour of Camden. Our first stop was at the {Lyttleton Arms}, a personal favourite. We both ordered the burger and a pint. Next stop was The Constitution, an RVC favourite. We sat out in the beer garden and got to enjoy the view of the canal. From there we made our way to {The World's End}.. probably the pub with the best music -- and it serves snakebite! We then sat and watched the football (aka soccer) match at {The Earl of Camden} -- West Ham won 2-1 against Blackpool btw-- and we ended the night up at the {Edinboro Castle}, another pub with a great beer garden. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy it though because it was so packed! After heading back to PB, I took Jamie to my favourite local pub, {The Old Manor}, where we ended the night with dinner and drinks!

Sunday, Jamie wanted to do lunch somewhere more 'high end' so we made our way to SoHo and ate at {Artubus}, one of the affordable Michelin Starred restaurants in the area. We both enjoyed the lunch menu -- I had a fancy salad, a pork dish, and cheesecake for dessert (sorry, I suck at remembering details), and Jamie had some thinly sliced lamb belly to start, followed by the same main and dessert (I believe). To top it all off we had some very delish wine! I wish I took some photos of our meal, but alas, the camera didn't come out of my bag :( You'll just have to take my word for it that the food was amazing!
